Ōtaki Kids Market Kicks Off the Year with a Successful Event

The January Ōtaki Kids Market was a vibrant and energetic celebration of young talent and creativity, with over 60 young entrepreneurs showcasing their products. Despite an early finish at 1 pm due to rain, the event was a resounding success, drawing both new and familiar faces to enjoy the bustling stalls and community atmosphere.

Youngsters came from all over the region; Ōtaki, Levin, Paraparaumu, Ramuati, Manakau, Te Horo, Newslands, The Hutt, Wainuiomata, Naenae, Porirua, Johnsonville, Khandalla, Whitby and Wellington.

The highlight of the day was the Best Kids Stall Awards, judged by Pat Bloxham, Patron of the Ōtaki Women’s Community Club. Congratulations to Loopy Lacey (Paraparaumu), the winner of the Best Kids Stall, and to the talented runners-up: Cottontail Designs (Paraparaumu), Coco’s Doggy Boutique, and Francesca. Their creativity and hard work truly shone through!

The day also featured special activities for visitors, including a free crafting table for kids to unleash their creativity and face painting for a koha, adding to the fun-filled atmosphere. Isabel’s fundraising efforts for her upcoming dance trip to Auckland, she worked the BBQ with her mum and dad, having a fun family day out.

A huge thank-you goes to the Pretty Boys, who provided fantastic live music that kept the energy high throughout the day, and to our incredible helpers—Levin, Dillon, and Sam—for their dedication and hard work in making the event run smoothly.

We also want to mention Tahlia and Aurora who helped with advertising for the market and did a live radio interview with Coast Access Radio.
