How you can help

Your donation, from time, skills or monetary donations to the Ōtaki Women’s Community Club helps support local initiatives, empower community projects, and ensure the continued success of events like the Ōtaki Market, making a lasting impact on the heart of our town.

the Ōtaki Market

The club runs a popular Sunday market held every fortnight in the winter and weekly in the summer, on the Main Highway of Otaki (just across the road from the New World).

This market is our main fundraising project, supplemented by smaller projects during the year. The markets were started back on the 20th November 1996 in Centennial Park, SH1, Otaki.

donating prizes

We often have competitions and giveaways at the Otaki Market, and some of our awesome local businesses, organisations or even individuals have donated some fantastic products or items for giveaways.

If you are keen to donate, drop the market team an email on otakimarket@outlook.com

supporting young people

We do this through a number of different channels, from the Otaki Kids Market, the annual Kids Workshop. Supporting young people to have a stall at the Kapiti Food Fair, to supplying an account at the local chemist for young people to access.

For the past 10 years we have supplied two scholarships to Otaki College. We regularly donate to KYS and have paid for young people to have stalls at the Otaki College Matariki Night Market.

Make friendships

Become a member of the Otaki Women's Community Club and make lasting and positive friendships. We meet once a month for dinner, and throughout the month have coffee catch ups, visit the theatre and other local activities.

From real estate agents, ballroom dancing teachers, lawyers, digital marketing experts, event management, authors, retail and merchandising experts, small business owners, teachers, professors, nurses, retirees and civil service officers. The Women of the OWCC have a wealth of experience, knowledge, insight and an impressive array of awards and nominations to their names.

sustainability

At the Ōtaki Market, we try where possible to weave sustainability into our operations, from the products on offer to the way we communicate with our visitors.

Are you an eco-warrior, greeny at heart or just care about our environment. We could always use a hand keeping our sustainability plan in check.
