It’s not every day that tamariki and rangatahi get to speak directly with leaders shaping our country’s economic future, and we saw this as an ideal platform for our kids to ask questions, share their ideas, and talk about their business ventures.

(The Otaki Women's Club is a non political and non religious organisation, but members saw the opportunity in this personal invitation as a learning and educational meet and greet).
The visit was not about politics — it was about empowerment, education, and encouragement. Our young business owners spoke confidently about their products, their pricing strategies, and their savings goals.

Financial literacy took centre stage as the kids chatted with the Minister of Finance about the basics of budgeting, reinvesting profits, and understanding the value of money. The Minister was genuinely impressed with the maturity and enthusiasm shown, and Tim Costley took the time to engage with each stallholder, asking thoughtful questions and acknowledging the hard work behind each business.
This event highlighted what we already know — that when given the chance, our young people rise to the occasion. They are curious, capable, and creative.
The meet-and-greet provided them with validation, inspiration, and a sense of pride in their achievements.
